Wellisen Neutraceuticals, an established nutraceuticals firm, is looking to recruit a dynamic Sales & Marketing Manager to provide strategic direction and grow its business. Currently, Wellisen’s business focuses on producing protein supplements and natural color. The Sales & Marketing Manager will spearhead the company’s new business development strategy and execution in its market segment. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to establish and execute the company’s vision for growth with existing customers and drive business opportunities in expanded channels with new customers.

With its recent change in ownership, Wellisen is looking to bring in new leadership to take the company to the next level. Towards this goal, Wellisen seeks to recruit a Sales & Marketing Manager to diversify the company portfolio into new and growing markets.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Operational Excellence

Establish Wellisen as a long-term supplier at strategic accounts by developing, maintaining and expanding strong customer relationships at multiple levels and functions. Develop strategic go to market plans for channels to drive incremental growth with the existing account base and business development opportunities with targeted accounts. Communicate key issues, project milestones and potential opportunities and risks to appropriate cross-functional team members and advise them of changes or activities that directly or indirectly affect current relationships.
Customer-centricity

Utilize direct contacts, relevant trade organization events and personal business networks to maximize opportunities and exposure to the company’s products and profile. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the company’s current strategic account base, driving new product and technology solutions. Drive exceptional customer service, ensuring that appropriate resources are tapped and prompt actions taken to address customer-based issues including competitive threats, product and service complaints.
Attention to Detail

Conduct current market assessment, explore competitive opportunities, and align product portfolio with business development projections and forecasts. Analyze cost models and negotiate re-pricing programs with customers to maintain profitability. Develop strategic plans for growth and development of new customers for maximizing company capabilities. Vigorously pursue product capability expansion, and apply market knowledge and competitive insight to enhance current business development.
Financial Acumen

Develop annual sales budget targets for assigned market channels, striving to meet budget objectives and taking appropriate action to achieve and/or exceed sales budget targets. Monitor and lead overall profitability and operating profit per customer and product consistent with the company’s long-range plan. Develop detailed financial projections for existing business and consult with the company CFO and functional team to assess overall profitability.
Position Requirements

  • Four-year College Degree required; Master’s Degree a plus.
  • 15+ years of sales in the nutraceuticals industry. Preferably, technical sales of custom products to various market segments.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing new business and new segments.
  • Proven experience leading strategic growth with the ability to bring key contacts and new business opportunities to the organization.
  • Proven relationship skills with established relationships with assigned customers a plus.
  • Proven account management skills.
  • Ability to build a multifaceted relationship with Senior Management and with customers in R&D, Purchasing, Marketing, Manufacturing.
  • Experience in Strategic Account Management and Solution Based Selling.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to lead in complex business situations; strategic thinking, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.

Job Description

We are looking for a Business Development Manager (BDM) focused on the Nutraceuticalsindustry to prospect for new nutraceutical clients by networking, cold calling, employing persuasive approaches, and business presentations that will convince potential clients to test and ultimately contract to deploy WellisenSpirulana products.

The BDM, Nutraceuticals will work alongside senior level management and technical staff. He/she may manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company in the future. This responsibility requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the Company’s competitors.

The BDM, Nutraceuticals will report directly to the plant manager of the Company.

Job Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Prospect for potential new clients through progression of discovering needs, defining best value proposition, pricing, etc., and ultimately closing business.
  • Cold call as appropriate within the nutraceuticals domestic and international market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities and contacts. Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging existing networks and fostering those already created within the Company.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organizations. Maintain excellent communication with senior management with regard to activities, pipeline of prospects, status, contacts, and coordinate other resources in the Company to assist in fulfilling application engineering, manufacturing, and delivery.
  • Work with the management team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Develop pricing model for the solutions & service in the nutraceuticals sector.
  • Develop the marketing materials for the company e.g. brochures, website, social media strategy.
  • Participate and present the company at various relevant conferences

Client Retention

  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships when appropriate.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs including custom development or engineering requirements.
Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the Company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Management and Research

  • Submit weekly progress reports and activities advanced since previous reports.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the Company’s CRM or other sales management system as required.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Work with senior management to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Understand the Company’s goals and purpose so that business development activities directly enhance the Company’s performance..

This is a contract position and can be based anywhere in India.

This is a full-time position. The Business Development Manager will be based in Mysore, India but travel will be a significant part of the job, including travel to customer prospects, industry events.

Desired Skills & Experience

Successful candidates will have the following
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field
  • 7-10 years of direct technical selling experience in pharmaceutical/nutraceutical product sales. The Company will also consider candidates who have direct technical sales experience in pharmaceutical processes, excipients, APIs, and /or other pharma related sales to manufacturing or engineering groups.
  • A proven record of closing larger technical sales solutions
